Police in a university town near Sacramento are calling on federal authorities to help investigate an attempted arson that they say appears to have been intended to maim and kill people in and around an off-campus fraternity house.
The former police officer who gained national attention after video of him surfaced pepper-spraying University of California, Davis students during an Occupy rally has reached a settlement with the university on a worker’s compensation claim related to the incident.
The university hired Luanne Lawrence as associate chancellor for strategic communications earlier this year at a salary higher than any other campus communications chief in the University of California system.
