Raiders Coach Says Palmer Will Have Competition At QB

Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer threw for 4,018 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2012, but that doesn’t mean coach Dennis Allen is going to just hand the starting job to Palmer next year. Allen told the NFL Network on Thursday that Palmer can expect to have some competition at quarterback.

Raiders take a few steps forward but many steps backward in disappointing 2012 season

This was supposed to be a year where the Raiders would finally have a winning season and possibly challenge for a playoff spot. But under new head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie, the team’s rebuilding efforts were largely unsuccessful. A few players showed promise but overall, it was a frustrating season for the organization and the team’s long suffering fans.

Raiders Fight Hard But Lose In Season Finale

A frustrating season for the Oakland Raiders came to a merciful end on Sunday with a 24-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers. The Raiders finished the season with a 4-12 record. The good news is that Terrelle Pryor showed why he was picked by Al Davis just months before he passed away. The loss ensures the Raiders will be the overall #3 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft

It’s Official: Terrelle Pryor Makes His First Career Start Against The Chargers

After almost a week of waiting, head coach Dennis Allen makes it official by naming Terrelle Pryor as his starting quarterback in Sunday’s finale at San Diego. Pryor hasn’t started a game since he won the 2011 Sugar Bowl while at Ohio State. Cornerback Philip Adams is on injured reserve with a groin injury and has been replaced by Brandian Ross.

Raiders Leaning Toward Starting Matt Leinart In Sunday’s Finale At San Diego

With quarterback Carson Palmer out for the final game with cracked ribs, competition begins in earnest for the starting quarterback job between backups Matt Leinart and Terrelle Pryor. Indications are that Pryor will get more than three plays, but the bulk of the playing time will go to Leinart. The Raiders were also shut out of the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2003.

Terrelle Pryor Should Get More Playing Time In Raiders’ Finale

With the Raiders mired in another losing season, now is the time for quarterback Terrelle Pryor to get his chance to prove to his coaches and the fans what he can do. The Raiders are guaranteed a top five pick in the upcoming NFL draft so there’s nothing to lose by playing him. In fact, a loss by the team only helps to ensure a better draft pick.

Raiders Listless Against Panthers in 17-6 Loss

The Oakland Raiders lost again to fall to 4-11 Sunday. Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer was injured during the game and the team didn’t play any better with backup QB Matt Leinart. Few positives can be found after the Raiders lost their 10th straight game in the Eastern time zone.

Raiders Try To Build Momentum From Sunday’s Win

This weekend, the Oakland Raiders will try to make it two straight wins for the first time since late October. Their final two games are on the road at Carolina and at San Diego. Raiders Finally End The Losing Streak

Six straight losses was enough for the Raiders, who finally are back in the win column. Oakland improved to 4-10 and ensured they will not have the top draft pick in 2013. More importantly, the Raiders are looking for some consistency with two games remaining.
