Downed Power Lines
Downed power lines have caused a complete closure of a section Highway 280 in Cupertino Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The highway was completely shut down for about an hour beginning around 11 a.m. when an excavation crew knocked down a power pole on Hembree Lane parallel to the highway, causing power and phone lines to droop across lanes of traffic.
The California Highway Patrol has closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 in Hercules Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle struck a telephone pole causing live wires to fall across the lanes and stop traffic.
Outages in Millbrae, Concord and Walnut Creek knocked out power to thousands of PG&E customers Sunday afternoon, a PG&E spokesman said.
