Felony Vehicular Manslaughter
A Marin County man who pleaded guilty to striking and killing a 71-year-old pedestrian with his bicycle in San Francisco last year was sentenced Thursday to probation and community service.
Under a plea agreement, 37-year-old Chris Bucchere of Marin County will not serve any time in jail. Instead, he will be sentenced to 1,000 hours of community service when he goes before the judge in San Francisco Superior Court on Aug. 16.
A San Francisco judge ruled Thursday that a bicyclist accused of killing a pedestrian in a Castro District crosswalk should stand trial for felony vehicular manslaughter rather than lesser charges sought by the defense.
Police on Thursday announced the arrest of a suspect in the hit-and-run death of a wheelchair-bound man in Richmond in September.
