After KPIX 5 Exposes ‘Ghost Voting’ In California State Assembly, Members Continue Practice

One vote per person: That’s the way it’s supposed to work. Yet last year, KPIX 5 showed you members of our State Assembly casting votes for other lawmakers. It’s called “ghost voting.” The practice is against the rules, but it’s still going on.

Ghost Voting: California Assembly Members Caught Breaking The Rules

KPIX 5 was at the State Capitol and watched the Assembly at work during the last two weeks of the session. Lawmakers were voting on hundreds of bills. But we noticed something strange: Many votes were being cast without anyone sitting in the chair.
