Oakland Settles With Injured Occupy Protester For $645,000

The city of Oakland has agreed to settle a claim by a U.S. Army veteran from the Iraq War who was beaten by a police officer during an Occupy Oakland protest two years ago.

Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest of U.S. Army veteran Kayvan Sabeghi, who was hospitalized after an arrest during this week’s Occupy Oakland protests.
