Hundreds of lightning strikes overnight have sparked three dozen new wildfires in Northern California, authorities said Sunday.
A flight arriving in Oakland Monday afternoon was struck by lightning in its approach to the Bay Area, but was undamaged and no one onboard was injured, an airline spokeswoman said.
Thunderclaps echo through Bay Area, with Twitter helping track the storms. The Oakland A’s game is still on, but wet weather is likely to impact play.
The cause of a power outage that left 100 PG&E customers in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood without power Friday morning was a nearby lightning strike, a utility spokesman said.
