Man Swept To Sea Off Point Reyes Seashore Found Dead

A search in Marin County in the waters off Point Reyes National Seashore was called off after the Coast Guard recovered the body of a man who was swept out to sea while trying to rescue his dog from the swift undercurrent.

Mourners Honor Murdered Marin County Sheriff’s Deputy

Family, friends and law enforcement officers from around the Bay Area filled the 2,000-seat Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium Friday to pay tribute to 49-year-old slain Marin County sheriff’s Deputy Jim Mathiesen.
