Municipal Identification Card
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan on Friday hailed her city’s first step in issuing municipal identification cards as an important step in “fighting for more equity and justice in our country and having a more perfect union.”
The ID cards have been on Mayor Jean Quan’s “to-do” list for about 2-and-a-half years. She argues that the cards would give power to those who otherwise carry no legal identification.
The Richmond City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a municipal identification card program for city residents.
