A federal magistrate in San Jose is expected to rule later this month whether it’s legal for police to take down Occupy encampments. Although the decision is about a former Santa Cruz encampment, the ruling could have widespread implications.
A group of about 30 occupiers have left the bank building they broke into last week, after Santa Cruz police ordered them out Saturday afternoon.
Santa Cruz police tried unsuccessfully overnight to remove a group of Occupy demonstrators who barricaded themselves inside a vacant bank building on Wednesday.
