Pope Francis Tells Catholic Church To Stop Obsessing Over Gays

Signaling a dramatic shift in Vatican tone, Pope Francis said the Catholic Church had become obsessed by “small-minded rules” about how to be faithful and that pastors should instead emphasize compassion over condemnation when discussing divisive social issues of abortion, gays and contraception.

Gay Leaders Encouraged By Pope’s Comments On Gays

Pope Francis reached out to gays on Monday. “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis asked. “We shouldn’t marginalize people for this. They must be integrated into society.”
