Emotions ran high at Oakland City Hall on Tuesday night as dozens of people spoke out against a controversial plan to bring a former Los Angeles and New York police chief in to advise Oakland’s Police Department.
Tuesday was an emotional day in Sacramento where a senate public safety committee rejected measures to streamline the death penalty process. The most vocal was Marc Klaas whose daughter Polly was murdered in 1993.
The board’s Public Safety Committee will consider the proposal by Supervisor Scott Wiener at a hearing Thursday at City Hall.
