Daily Madden: Raiders Need A New Look On Defense

The Oakland Raiders have released defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, who started every game the last two seasons. The move saves the team $4.8 million against the salary cap this year.

Richard Seymour To Miss His Seventh Straight Game

The Raiders once again will be without Richard Seymour. The veteran defensive tackle hasn’t played since November 4 with lingering knee and hamstring injuries. Safety Tyvon Branch is questionable with an ankle injury. For the Panthers, running back Jonathan Stewart might play for the first time since week 12. He’s been out with a high ankle sprain.

Raiders Could Take Advantage Of Injured Chiefs Secondary

The Raiders still have injuries but most of their key personnel are healthy and able to play on Sunday. The Chiefs are without wide receiver Dwayne Bowe who is one of their best players. A storied rivalry, these two teams also have the worst records in the NFL. The loser will gain a better pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

Rolando McClain Returns To Raiders As Backup And Special Teams Player

Disgruntled Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain is back after his two-game suspension. Head coach Dennis Allen will use him as a backup to Omar Gaither and on special teams. Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour and cornerback Michael Huff were both limited in practice as they recover from various ailments.

Raiders Might See Return of McFadden and Goodson For First Time In Nearly A Month

Running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson finally returned to practice after missing three games with high ankle sprains. They won’t see teammate Rolando McClain who has been suspended without pay for two games for conduct detrimental to the team. The Browns have various injuries but their key players should all be active this Sunday.

Rolando McClain Might Soon Be An Ex-Raider

Troubled linebacker Rolando McClain was absent from practice Wednesday for “team related issues.” McClain has been a major disappointment and has seen his playing time drastically reduced since the first month of the season. Running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson returned to practice for the first time in nearly a month.

Raiders Need To Look Forward To Next Year

The Raiders have assured themselves of another mediocre season with their eighth loss. As professionals, the players owe it to themselves, the organization, and most importantly the fans to play with some pride the final five games.

The Raiders will again be without Darren McFadden, Mike Goodson, or Richard Seymour. Oakland once again will rely heavily on quarterback Carson Palmer and fullback Marcel Reece on offense. Defensively, Tyvon Branch is back after missing last week’s game with a neck injury.

Injury-Riddled Raiders Will Make Sunday’s Game A Shootout

With high powered passing offenses and poor defenses, Sunday’s game between the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints could be very interesting. More injuries mean that an already limited roster will make things even more difficult for the Silver and Black.
