Giants Shut Out Padres With Help From Hitters

Angel Pagan led off the first inning with a homer, Buster Posey connected two batters later, and Yusmeiro Petit went six innings in a spot start replacing injured Matt Cain and the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 6-0 on Tuesday night.

Royals Shut Out Punchless Athletics Squad

Vin Mazzaro pitched six stellar innings and the Kansas City Royals beat punchless Oakland 2-0 Sunday, handing the Athletics their third shutout in four games.
