The Antioch Unified School District has announced that it will pay $8 million to eight families who sued over a teacher’s alleged abuse of autistic kindergarten students and the district’s failure to report it.
Child cruelty and battery charges against a Redwood City special education teacher were dropped Thursday after the aides who had originally accused her changed their statements, according to San Mateo County prosecutors.
Eight employees were placed on paid administrative leave while the district determines whether proper procedures were followed.
Two years ago, the AbleCloset was founded by San Carlos native Kelly Steitz. In donated warehouse space, Steitz lends more than 200 pieces of specialized pediatric equipment.
