The Chicago Cubs had fewer grounds crew members during Tuesday night’s so-called “Tarp Gate” game against the San Francisco Giants. A newspaper reported that the team recently reorganized staffing to possibly skirt insurance requirements under Obamacare.
After two days, the first upheld protest in nearly 30 years and another rain storm, the Chicago Cubs finally completed a 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants in a suspended game on Thursday night.
The San Francisco Giants have won their protest of Tuesday night’s rain-delayed game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field which ended in a loss for the Giants after grounds crews mishandled the placing of the infield tarp, resulting in an unplayable surface after the rain passed.
Jake Peavy pitched seven solid innings in his fifth start with San Francisco, and the Giants rolled past the Chicago Cubs 8-3 on Wednesday, hours after they won a protest regarding a rain-shortened loss from the night before.
