Fewer Geologists Monitoring California Quakes Due To Government Shutdown

California earthquake monitoring may be taking a hit during the partial federal government shutdown. In Menlo Park doors were locked as all but 43 of 8,600 full-time staffed geologists with the U.S. Geological Survey were furloughed.
