The U.S. Olympic Committee says it is working with Los Angeles on a bid for the 2024 games.
On Thursday, the United States Olympic Committee could decide between the Bay Area and three other finalists as the nation’s bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. A newly-announced stadium plan, which would later be a home for the Oakland Raiders, could improve chances for a local bid.
San Francisco is one of four finalist cities being considered for a U.S. bid to host the Olympic Games.
The U.S. Olympic Committee has hired Stanford’s Jon Denney to become chief development officer and president of its new fundraising arm.
The reality seems to be setting in that the cost for San Francisco’s bid alone would be prohibitive – not to mention what it would cost to hire sufficient security and transit.
Twenty-five cities, including San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento, have been invited by the U.S. Olympic Committee to submit bids for the Summer Olympics in 2024.
