If you haven't yet picked up a Valentine's gift, you're running out of time. Now is the time to decide what to get your sweetheart, especially if you were planning on arranging for chocolates and flowers to be delivered. Fortunately, there are many stores throughout San Francisco that are awaiting your arrival, call or email. Here is a small sampling of five of the best places to buy Valentine's gifts for her in San Francisco, all of them pleasantly unique to the City by the Bay.

The Ferry Building Marketplace is a great spot for Valentine's Day gift ideas, particularly the expertly handcrafted chocolates at Recchiuti Confections. A platinum collection of 88 pieces sets the high bar at $168, but there are many more affordable boxes, such as the popular S'mores kit for $25 and a six-ounce package of Burnt Caramel Almonds for $13. Other items available include chocolate bars and sauces and specialty snacks. Customers can choose from custom made rings, pendants, earrings and other fine jewelry. Located right off Market Street near Emporio Armani and Barney's New York, the showroom is by appointment only but available seven days a week.

One easy way to brighten up Valentine's Day is with a dazzling bouquet of roses or other colorful floral arrangements. For the best selection of fresh flowers in the city, the San Francisco Flower Mart is the only place to go. Located a few blocks from the San Francisco Cal Train Station, the lively flower market has more than 50 vendors specializing in cut flowers, blooming plants and other related products.
