The Gardens at Lake Merritt is the perfect spot to bring a date. The Gardens have all sorts of intimate and cozy gardens to take a stroll around. A great spot to bring a first date or a place to go for date night for couples who just want to get away. Lake Merrit is such a gem in Oakland, many are not aware of it's existence. Lake Merrit is the first nature preserve in the nation. Thirty years before any nature preserves. It has a natural estuary, a bonsai garden that has a 200 hundred years-old potted bonsai, the oldest in the country. Plus the gardens has so many spots to enjoy the lake.

For a very sweet spot for your sweetheart, have a meal at the Lake Chalet. They serve oysters, salmon, chicken wings, calamari, shrimp on a skewer plus non-alcoholic guava and pomegranate drinks. The Lake Chalet has two Happy Hours, the first from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and the second runs from 9:00pm to midnight. That's twice a day to be happy and before you go to bed!
