THE DEFENSE

Q: Welcome to Defend Your Ride San Francisco. What can you tell us about yourself and your beautiful car?

A: I'm Tamera Tresko. I've lived in San Francisco since 1973. My husband found this car on Sunset Blvd. We've been driving it ever since. It's a 1957 210 Chevrolet Sedan and it's been costumed. It has '57 Buick grill, American wheels, ghost flames and the interior is stocked for a 210, but we changed a few things, the wheel and the dash.

Q: How many miles are on this car?

A: We got a motor that was put in three years ago and that has 20,000 miles just on that. The odometer says 98,289, but who knows considering the age of this car. So 98,289, give and take a little? More like give.

Q: Can you tell us more about the experience of getting this car?

A: We got a motor that was put in three years ago and that has 20,000 miles just on that. The odometer says 98,289, but who knows considering the age of this car. So 98,289, give and take a little? More like give.

Q: Do you know from whom he acquired the car?

A: He found it on Sunset Blvd. This little old lady was being put in a home and the family was selling it. It's been nothing but classic cars since!

Q: What a lovely story. What is your car's main use?

A: This car's main purpose is to go to local shows we sometimes go out of town like to Grass Valley or out to Jackson, places like that. I say we. It's just me now though. But anyways, it's mostly local shows. Shows are always charity chosen, to raise money for local things in the area. I don't drive it on a regular basis except on the weekends, but I do drive it. I do not trailer this.

Q: Are there any rules in your car?

A: No smoking.

Q: What do you like to listen to in your car?

A: I listen to '50s music, but I'm also a country western fan.

Q: What's your strongest memory of this car?

A: When my husband first brought it home and said, "That's my car and I'm going to keep it!" I said, "OK, OK, that's fine!"

Q: What's the farthest you've driven this car?

A: Grass Valley. Oh wait a minute! Back in '99 we took it to Flagstaff to a classic show down there. It was the Western Nationals.

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share about your car?

A: I hope it goes on and on treating me as well as I've tried to treat it.
