The days of free food spreads luring our beleaguered workforce into watering holes are quickly disappearing. Fortunately, Eye on the Bay’s Liam Mayclem has scouted a few spots that still offer a bite to eat for the after work crowd. Here are his suggestions for the East Bay:

King Tsin

1699 Solano Ave, Berkeley
(510) 525-9890

Happy Hour is everyday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., featuring free fried wonton noodles, meatballs, and spring rolls.

5121 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton
(925) 460-0444

A $5 signature cocktail entitles you to all you can eat wood fired pizzas, veggies and house-made chips and dip. The $8.00 “Recession proof lunch” is also a great deal for early arrivals.

Celia’s Mexican Restaurant

523 W. 10th Street, Antioch
(925) 754-1355

Get a free plate of nachos or other Mexican fare with each drink. The deal is available at several Bay Area locations.

IL Pescatore

31 Webster St
Oakland, CA 94607
(510) 465-2188

Monday through Friday. This Italian eatery serves up free cheese, olives, meatballs, fresh homemade potato chips, bruschetta, little sandwiches, chicken and vegetables, and, on occassion, pizza. Happy Hour is 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Another great place is Eleve in Walnut Creek. The free food is great during happy hour (5-6:30) and the drinks are amazing!

How about MaRiCa Restaurant in Rockridge (North Oakland) on College Avenue. Not only is their happy hour til 9:30pm since they have a 5:30pm-9:30pm open time (so they have an all night happy hour) but they also have a prix-fix menu and discount if you pay cash.

Still miss the Peppermill Hors ‘deourves from 4pm to 8pm Monday through Friday. Mini Burgers, Nachos, Potoato Skins, Scampi, Calamari, Mmm Mmm Mmm.
And they were delivered to you by an elegantly dressed waitress.
Now that’s class I haven’t seen too many restaurants do lately.

Went to King Tsin this weekend (Oct 2011); waiter said that this free offer expired two years ago.
