The days of free food spreads luring our beleaguered workforce into watering holes are quickly disappearing. Fortunately, Eye on the Bay’s Liam Mayclem has scouted a few spots that still offer a bite to eat for the after work crowd. Here are his suggestions for the South Bay:

Britannia Arms

1087 S. De Anza Blvd., San Jose, CA 95129
(San Jose address, but a “Cupertino” location)
(408) 242-7262

This pubs Happy Hours are on Friday 3:30pm to 6:30pm. The all-you-can-eat menu is full of fried delights: Fish-n-chips, fried zucchini, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts.

Pedro’s Restaurant and Cantina

3935 Freedom Circle, Santa Clara, CA 95054
(408) 496-6777
www.pedrosrestaurants.comHappy Hours at this upscale Mexican restaurant are Monday through Friday, 4pm to 7pm. A 2 drink minimum entitles you to an “all-you-can-eat” buffet, featuring items from Pedro’s regular menu: Enchiladas, Tamales, Beans, Rice, Carnitas, etc.

(Buffet is rotated approximately every hour, and the menu varies.)

Morocco’s Restaurant

86 N. Market Street, San Jose, CA 95113
(408) 998-1509
www.moroccosrestaurant.com

Happy Hour comes every day from 5pm to 7pm at Moroccos. Buy a drink, and you can choose a “sampler” representing their authentic Moroccan menu: Nut and cheese plate, potato and beet salad, “Briwatts” (brie cheese, rolled into a filo dough dumpling) and Spicy Chilled Cucumber Salad.
