This swank steakhouse underneath the Bay Bridge has amazing ambiance, a suberb menu and prime tables to see and be seen. Or head upstairs to the Quiver Bar and snag a table overlooking luxurious booths packed with luxe diners. Dr. Dre, Audrina Partidge, Barry Zito and Lance Bass have all held court in this chic space. Dr. Dre, by the way, prescribes the porterhouse.

Robert Downey Jr., will i. am, Dianne Feinstein, Al Gore, Robert Redford, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck, you name it! This Pacific Heights destination is a favorite of stars visiting San Francisco. Grab one of the massive leather bar seats and swirl yourself towards the dining room. (I spent my 31st birthday at Spruce. My father returned from the men’s room, leaned into the table and hissed, “I washed my hands next to Emeril!” Bam!)

Scala’s Bistro

Nestled in the heart of Union Square, this centrally located spot is the scene of lots of star sightings. Halle Berry, Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, Tommy Lee, Christopher Lloyd, Steve Martin, even Betty White have all settled into a table at Scala’s. Under the helm of Executive Chef and Top Chef contestant Jen Biesty, this restaurant in the lobby of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel hooks the big celebrity fish. In case you’re curious, Betty White enjoyed the crab toast.

The Slanted Door is one of the most celebrated Vietnamese restaurants in the country, serving up local, organic ingredients in an ecclectic, award-winning menu. Brooke Shields, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, and Don Draper himself, Jon Hamm have all enjoyed a meal at this Ferry Building favorite.

Foreign Cinema’s gorgeous Mission District space is home to more than just fabulous, fresh food and international cinematic classics splashed across the outdoor dining space onto a white-washed brick wall. Stars flock to this fun, fabulous spot on Mission Street. Neil Patrick Harris, k.d. lang, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and the East Bay band Green Day have all been spotted at Foreign Cinema.
