Judge Bans Norteno Gang Activity from Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) _ A Solano County judge has permanently barred the Nortenos street gang from the city of Fairfield.

Judge William C. Harrison previously had imposed a temporary injunction and made it permanent Tuesday after a four-day trial.

The injunction means Norteno gang members are prohibited from gathering or engaging in gang activities within a 4.2-square-mile area of central Fairfield. Gang members also are under a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.

The complaint names gang members covered by the ban, including two who denied their membership during the trial.

The judge noted that Lucio Gonzalez and Mario Huezo could "opt out" of the injunction if they renounce gang life and haven't been convicted of gang-related crimes within the past three years.
