Chemical Spill at Valero Refinery

BENICIA, Calif. (KCBS) _ Two workers were injured after a small chemical spill Tuesday afternoon at the Valero Refinery in Benicia.

Valero spokesman Sue Fisher Jones said one of the workers was taken to the hospital with a chemical burn to the wrist and the other went to see his own doctor.

"It was a very small, localized situation. There is a cleanup operation underway," she said. "All operations are normal here at the refinery."

Jones said a small amount of a caustic chemical spill leaked out near Valero's utility plant.

There is no indication that any chemicals got off the refinery property.
