East Bay Stand Down Wraps Up
PLEASANTON, Calif. (KCBS) _ The East Bay Stand Down wrapped up on Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
Local founder Denver Mills said more than 400 veterans from the current wars all the way back to Korea received housing, medical, dental and legal assistance.
"Superior court judges here from San Francisco, Contra Costa, Alameda and Santa Clara County are adjudicating misdemeanors to free up these individuals to go back to a productive and meaningful life," he said.

There was even something for pets of the often homeless vets.
"Chiropractors, massage therapists. We have a sit-stay down, which is for the companion animals that some of the homeless people have," said Mills. "They may be their only friends."
Jeff Brewster of Palo Alto said he arrived with aching teeth.
"I came here for dental services. I had to get a few wisdom teeth pulled," said Brewster. "They took care of that immediately and I also had some legal issues, a couple of traffic tickets I needed to get paid off. They dismissed them and I got everything I came for."
Many of the vets have stayed on cots in tents since Thursday as hundreds of volunteers tried to make their lives just a little more pleasant.
