Sonoma Valley Bank Shuts Its Doors

SONOMA (KCBS)_ Sonoma Valley Bank in Sonoma has closed its doors. The California Department of Financial Institutions took the step after concerns surfaced about the bank's viability.

Under an agreement with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Westamerica Bank will take over Sonoma Valley's operations.

All three branches of Sonoma Valley Bank will re-open Saturday and depositors can continue to write Sonoma Valley bank checks and access cash via the ATMs.

Sonoma Valley Bank is the ninth bank to fail in California this year and the 118th nationwide.
