Unemployed Honored on Labor Day

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will spend Labor Day alongside President Obama and the head of the AFL-CIO.

In addition to honoring the workforce, this year the Labor Department will also be honoring the nation's unemployed workers.

The head of the Labor Department says even though the Obama administration has been adding 90,000 jobs per month for the past seven months, there's still a long, long way to go to get the nation's millions of unemployed workers back on the job.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis mirrored what the President said in a Rose Garden statement Monday morning when he spoke about his plan for short and long term economic growth and what he'll do to get more people working again.

She says the measures to create more jobs and help small businesses are especially important to California, which is suffering from the third highest unemployment rate in the nation behind Nevada and Michigan.
