Witnesses Help In 2 San Jose Bank Robbery Arrests

SAN JOSE (BCN) - Help from community members led to the arrest of two suspected bank robbers in San Jose last week, police said.

The first robbery occurred late Wednesday afternoon at Wells Fargo, located at 360 N. Capitol Expressway.

The suspect, identified as Eddie Ortega, a 63-year-old San Jose resident, allegedly robbed the bank and then fled. He was apprehended on a light rail platform less than a block away from the bank based on a description given by witnesses, police said.

Another robbery occurred the following day at Chase, located at 55 W. Santa Clara St. The suspect in this incident was identified as 60-year-old San Jose resident James Collins. Officers again were assisted by witnesses in locating and arresting him less than a block away from the bank, police said.
