Bay Area To See Hottest Weekend Of The Year

SAN FRANCISCO (NWS) -- Hot temperatures mainly inland are expected through the weekend and into the first half of next week.

A strong ridge of high pressure will build into the San Francisco and Monterey Bay region today and into the first half of next week while warmer air moves in from the south. This will lead to much warmer weather across the entire area.

Although there is still some uncertainty with how hot temperatures will be, there is high confidence that some of the warmest weather of the year can be expected, especially away from the coast.

Over the weekend highs will be in the 90s for many inland spots with 70s along the coast and 80s to lower 90s around San Francisco Bay. Even hotter weather is expected for Monday and Tuesday with the warmest inland spots topping 100 degrees.

Persons with outdoor plans should be prepared for the much warmer weather. Be sure to have plenty of water available along with sunscreen and light colored clothing. Young children and pets should never be left in vehicles under any circumstances during warm or hot weather.
