Highway 37 Opened After 5-Hour Cable Spill Closure

VALLEJO (BCN) - Heavy cables spilled onto westbound state Highway 37 in Vallejo Thursday morning, causing multiple accidents and blocking traffic for nearly five hours, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

About 3:45 a.m., the cables slid off of an unknown vehicle and onto the roadway just east of state Highway 29, where they were struck by a big-rig and several other vehicles, one of which flipped over, according to the CHP.

No serious injuries were reported, but it took hours to remove the mess of cables from the roadway.

The slow westbound lane opened at 5:36 a.m., and all lanes were reopened as of 8:38 a.m., CHP Officer Mike Mines said.
