Small Earthquake Rattles Eastern Santa Clara County

SAN JOSE (BCN) - The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.0 struck Thursday night in Santa Clara County.

According to the USGS, at 10:23 p.m. a quake centered about Joseph D. Grant County Park rattled the foothills east of San Jose.

The tremor, which had a depth of 5.0 miles, originated from a section of the Calaveras Fault about 10 miles east of downtown San Jose, according to the USGS.
