Shooting Outside Sunnyvale Bar Injures Milpitas Man

SUNNYVALE (BCN) -- Police are continuing to investigate an early morning shooting that injured a man outside of a bar in Sunnyvale Thursday, a police captain said.

The shooting occurred outside of Brass Rail at 160 Persian Drive around the bar's closing time at 2 a.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Capt. Dave Verbrugge said.

An altercation broke out between a group of people resulting in the shooting of a 40-year-old Milpitas man.

He was taken to a hospital with a single gunshot wound to his leg, Verbrugge said. The injury was not considered life threatening.

Police believe four or five people were involved in the altercation. So far no arrests have been made.

Officers initially pursued a car that left the scene at a high rate of speed onto U.S. Highway 101, but police later determined the people inside were not involved in the altercation, Verbrugge said.
