San Jose Police Investigating Reports Of Fraud Against Vietnamese Residents

SAN JOSE (BCN) -- San Jose police are investigating multiple reports of fraud committed against members of the city's Vietnamese community, the San Jose police said.

The victims reported being defrauded by a San Jose-based money wire transfer business operating under the name The3mien.com, police said.

According to police, the business accepted victims' money and kept it, instead of transferring the funds to recipients in Vietnam.

Police are also looking into reports that the same company sold pre-paid phone cards that were either deactivated or were never activated at all.

The alleged incidents took place between June and July of this year.

The San Jose location is no longer in business, though the owner reportedly operated a second store with the same name in Westminster, a city in southern California.

The Westminster location, which is also being investigated for consumer fraud, has also closed its doors.

Westminster police are investigating fraud reports in their jurisdiction.

San Jose police are urging victims who haven't filed a report to come forward by calling SJPD at (408) 277-8900.
