Several Feet Of Snow Set Up Sierra Ski Resorts For Holiday Weekend

LAKE TAHOE (AP) - Ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada are reporting some of the biggest snowfall totals in years, including one near Lake Tahoe that says it got nearly 9 feet over five days.

Alpine Meadows just west of Tahoe and about 13 miles south of Truckee, said the 105 inches of snow that fell at mid-mountain from last Friday through Tuesday is the largest single storm to be recorded during the month of November in the resort's history.

North Lake Tahoe Resort Association Tourism Director Andy Chapman said it was "the perfect storm" and set up premium conditions for the holiday weekend.

Six feet was reported at Kirkwood Mountain Resort, more than 5 feet at Squaw Valley USA and more than 4 feet at Heavenly, Mt. Rose and Northstar-at-Tahoe.
