Snowboarder Still Missing At Alpine Meadows

PLACER COUNTY (KCBS)- Authorities are looking for a snowboarder who went missing at a Lake Tahoe ski resort. Shawnte Willis, of Tahoma, was last seen on the backside of Alpine Meadows Ski Resort at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Willis apparently became separated from her friends. She was seen snowboarding through ski boundary signs near the top of an advanced slope accessible by chair lifts.

Placer County sheriff's captain Jeffrey Ausnow tells KCBS the 25-year-old woman's boyfriend waited several hours to report that she'd gone missing.

"The rain that you experienced down in your area last night basically created a lot of snow and the high winds created blizzard conditions and made the search very, very difficult," said Ausnow.

Willis is described as an intermediate level snowboarder.
