Phil Matier: Two Browns In The California Governor's Office

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Governor Jerry Brown named his wife Anne Gust, a former corporate lawyer for the Gap, as an unpaid advisor to his administration.

KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier said the couple is reprising a political partnership similar to the one they perfected during Brown's tenure as Attorney General.

"She's not going to be decorations in the Capitol," Matier said.

In an interview this week, Gust outlined their roles: Brown as visionary while Gust makes sure the trains run on time.

Matier noted that Brown had a much more nuts and bolts style than his predecessor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who relied on delegates to carry out negotiations.
