REDWOOD CITY (BCN) — A San Francisco woman who created fake Facebook identities and used them to contact young girls in 2009 was sentenced Thursday to nine months in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Jeanette Aragona, 20, created Facebook pages for fictitious boys she named “AJ”, “BJ” and “Matthew” and used them to contact eight girls at Westborough Middle School in South San Francisco, Wagstaffe said.

She engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the girls and eventually met them, at which point she claimed to be AJ and BJ’s aunt.

According to Wagstaffe, Aragona never touched or attempted to touch any of the girls.

Aragona pleaded no contest to two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment in November and was sentenced Thursday in San Mateo County Superior Court in Redwood City.

In addition to her nine-month jail sentence and requirement to register as a sex offender, Aragona was sentenced to five years supervised probation and ordered not to contact the victims, not to have access to the Internet, and not to frequent locations where children are present, Wagstaffe said.

She is scheduled to surrender Feb. 26 to serve her sentence.

What this woman did is typical of the next generation of internet predators. It’s too easy these days to use tools like to impersonate people on Facebook. I’m glad she went to jail!

The media likes to twist the truth which 99% of the time (take yourself as an example) result in scaring the public. You shouldn’t be so gullible.
