San Francisco TV Station Gives Viewers Front Seat To Egypt Turmoil
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)- San Francisco-based Link TV is giving its audience a broad view of events unfolding in Egypt, as Al Jazeera English language broadcasts have been bumped from about 30 minutes each day to a full 12 hours.

Chief Content Officer Kim Spencer said the political turmoil demands the huge programming expansion, mostly the Qatar-based Al Jazeera.
"Al Jazeera's journalists, European journalists and Israeli journalists are all out there doing the best they can to report on this situation," said Spencer, who adds that those journalists are putting themselves in harm's way to get the story.
"We actually have a staff person in Cairo who monitors Middle Eastern news and we haven't heard from him for a couple of days," said Spencer.
Link TV Executive Producer Abdallah Edwan and his team record broadcasts from various TV channels, state run and not, deciding which to quickly turn around for its American audience.
"We are trying to draw balance here," said Edwan. "Trying to get a certain angle from each station that gives a different viewpoint."
