Tedford Lands Strong Recruit Class Despite 1st Losing Season At Cal
BERKELEY (AP) - California followed up its first losing season under coach Jeff Tedford with a surprisingly strong recruiting class.
Led by five-star defensive tackle Viliami Moala of Sacramento, Tedford brought in a group on Wednesday that is ranked by most experts in the top 20 in the nation.
The recruiting haul comes just over two months after the Golden Bears wrapped up a 5-7 season that ended a run of seven straight bowl berths.
This was the second straight disappointing season on the field for Cal, but also the second consecutive strong recruiting campaign. Now the task for Tedford and his coaching staff is to turn these talented players into a winning team.
