DALY CITY (AP) — A Macy’s employee has been arrested on suspicion of stealing $60,000 worth of makeup from the retailer’s stores in Daly City and San Francisco.

Police say 31-year-old Carlos Gacula was detained by store security on Tuesday as he tried to walk out of a Macy’s store in Daly City with 90 tubes of MAC lipstick worth $1,300.

He allegedly later acknowledged having taken about $40,000 in cosmetics from the Daly City store and another $20,000 from the store in San Francisco’s Union Square over the course of a year while working in the stock room.

Police say Gacula told investigators he was having financial problems. He allegedly sold the makeup to friends and at an outdoor market in San Francisco.

The San Mateo County Times reports that Gacula was booked on charges including embezzlement and grand theft.

He probably would get away if he didn’t confess to the previous thefts.

Give me a break! So shall I guess both Lowell & Dan help themselves to a few “needs” from their jobs? Why do so many people feel everything is owed to them ? That is why it is a JOB! You work for it. Sadly, to many people think like Carlos & the later two who commented.

curious: Yeah, no kidding. They’re called “jobs” not “country clubbing.” To feel that you are entitled to shoplift or embezzle because you “don’t get paid enough” is the height of narcissistic, entitled behavior. Get over yourselves. There are plenty of people out there right now who’d be thrilled to be getting a paycheck and benefits right now if if it’s minimum wage.

I am with Dan, let’s pay cops what they’re worth, having the right to make life and death decisions!! What kind of pay is appropriate? Dan is one of the folks who make excuses for crooks and bad behavior. One of the reasons we have such a high jail population is the lenient judicial system which encourages continued anti-social behavior.

      Pay cops what they’re worth?!?!
Last time I checked, cops get psi very well Ruth generous pensions. They have an abundance of applications being submitted for those lucrative jobs. You raise the pay level to offset a lack of applicants. Why raise the pay ? They applied fir and are doing the work they signed up for. They don’t need mire tax dollars. In fact, if you reduced their pay, they would stay on the job and still be thankful for having a job. You would still get multiple applicants.

works for me — not enough wages to live, take matters into your own hands. plus there’s the excitement of planning and executing a good heist — many a movie has been enjoyed with the same theme. sorry the guy was caught.

and i have to believe the tubes of 1300 makeup could only be intended for fools anyway. slap the guy on the hand and tell him not to do it anymore — now go get the killers.
