Teen Killed In Napa Crash Identified

NAPA (BCN) -- The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified a teenager killed in a vehicle crash in Napa on Sunday night as 18-year-old Dayton William Lane Moore of Napa.

Sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said Moore was pronounced dead at the crash site on state Highway 29 around 7:30 p.m.

Moore was driving a Toyota Highlander north on state Highway 29 at Sierra Avenue around 7:25 p.m. when he swerved off the right side of the road, Napa police Sgt. Paul Paniagua said.

The driver's door struck a light pole on the north side of Sierra Avenue, and the SUV spun counter clockwise and hit a fence and a pine tree on the shoulder of the road, Paniagua said.

The light pole fell across both lanes of the highway and was struck by a small compact car. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, Paniagua said.

Moore was wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, Paniagua said.

Moore had just finished work at the Starbucks in the South Napa Market Place before the crash, Paniagua said.

The collision closed the highway for approximately five hours, Paniagua said.
