92-Year-Old Hurt In San Francisco ATM Robbery; Suspect Arrested

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man was arrested on suspicion of the strong-arm robbery of a 92-year-old man at a bank ATM in San Francisco's Chinatown neighborhood last week, police said Tuesday.

Saaga Saaga, 39, was arrested on suspicion of the robbery, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at a bank ATM in the 900 block of Stockton Street, according to police.

The elderly victim had just withdrawn money from the ATM and was about to remove his card when the suspect approached from the rear, grabbed the man's wallet, and pushed him to the ground before fleeing on foot, police said.

The victim was injured in the fall, but is expected to survive, police said.

After viewing surveillance video, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Saaga, who has had numerous prior police contacts.

Officers searched an area that Saaga frequents, and at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, he was located in a parking lot at Jefferson and Mason streets and arrested without incident, police said.

Saaga has been charged with robbery and elder abuse and remained in custody as of Tuesday, according to police.
