Tree Falls, Crushes Vallejo Man In Car

NAPA (AP) -- Authorities believe a powerful weekend storm led to the death of a Northern California man whose vehicle was crushed by a falling tree in Napa.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jaret Paulson said that 46-year-old Alexander Naglal of Vallejo was driving north on a local road near Highway 12 around 10:20 p.m. Saturday when a tree on the side of the road fell on his Chevy Suburban.

Paulson said the tree—believed to be a large oak—stopped the vehicle on impact.

Naglal was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was shut down for about five hours after the incident.

Authorities said the tree was likely brought down by the strong winds and heavy rains that swept through the Napa Valley Saturday night.
