SF Sex Offender Arrested After Allegedly Confronting Novato Teen

NOVATO (BCN) - A San Francisco registered sex offender was arrested at a Novato bus stop Tuesday for annoying a girl, a police sergeant said.

Michael Raymond Ruiz, 53, make sexual comments and physically advanced toward the teen around 2:15 p.m. at the bus stop at Arthur Street and S. Novato Boulevard, Sgt. Jennifer Welch said.

The girl was not touched and she left the area and informed police, Lt. John McCarthy said.

Police searched the area and located a man matching the suspect's description a short distance away, Welch said.

Officers found narcotics on Ruiz when they searched him before he was booked into the Marin County jail, Welch said.

Ruiz was booked for annoying or molesting a child, possession of a controlled substance and loitering where children are present. His bail was set at $250,000.

Novato police also reported a 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of molesting his 8-year-old half-sister last summer.

The girl's mother informed police Monday her daughter, now 9,  said she was molested on multiple occasions by the teen last summer, Heiden said.

Police arrested the boy in the 700 block of Redwood Boulevard and he was booked into juvenile hall.
