Heavy Rains Could Mean More Landslides For 6 San Pablo Homes

SAN PABLO (CBS) -- Inspectors are keeping a close eye on six homes in San Pablo after heavy rains caused a landslide, Assistant City Manager Kelsey Worthy said Saturday morning.

The landslide was reported Thursday afternoon behind homes in the 5900 block of Wyman Street and the 5900 block of Hillcrest Road, he said.

Inspectors went and looked at structures Friday and they were deemed to be safe. Another inspector who went out Saturday morning reported that the land is still moving but the structures were not, he said.

Another inspection was planned for 10 a.m., and a soils engineer was expected to arrive at noon to inspect the area.

"We have a tight inspection schedule and the residents will call us - the ones who are there - to let us know if anything changes," Worthy said.

Some residents have left, he said, but no evacuations have been put in place.
