Narsai David Wine Review: Chappellet Wines

(KCBS) - KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews two beautiful wines from Chappellet Winery in Napa Valley.

2009 Napa Valley Chardonnay

Rich aromas of very ripe stone fruit and garden flowers. Think ripe peaches. Lush mouth feel, a rich wine that coats the tongue and lingers long on the palate. This is a soft, buttery, rich wine, with a fine spicy finish. With food, this would be the wine to celebrate with, lobster, maybe or chicken with a rich cream sauce. Nice price at $29.00

2008 Napa Valley, Mountain Cuvee

Deep, rich crimson color. Lush aromas of black berries and cassis, lead to a complex, intriguing, delicious wine. A blend of all five of the classic Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. Lots of ripe berry flavors mingle with a nice amount of tannin - enough to balance the wine now and to let it age for years. Just plain delicious. $32.00, a great price.
