Tech Watch: Apple's New Hi-Def TV

(KCBS) - Apple appears to be set to make another foray into your living room. A new report says the company may launch an Internet-connected high definition television set before the end of the year.

CNET Editor-at-Large Brian Cooley says this may be a bit of a branding mess since they already have Apple TV. But Apple TV is a little box you add to your current television to stream TV and movie content over the Internet. This new product is an actual television set.

Although many people may be watching TV more on notebooks and tablets now, Cooley says Apple wants to close the loop on this. He says Apple wants viewers to know they can watch TV through iTunes in their living room.

Another analyst is suggesting that Apple is getting ready to take on Netflix. Cooley says Apple is building out a huge server center where they'll be storing lots of video to stream, like Netflix.

You can hear his Tech Watch report Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:50 P.M. on KCBS All News 740AM and 106.9FM.
