49ers Shopping Naming Rights To Santa Clara Stadium

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) - The San Francisco 49ers will partner with a high profile marketing company, CAA Sports, to sell naming rights for the proposed stadium in Santa Clara, the team announced Wednesday.

Any deal could generate anywhere from $5 million to more than $200 million to offset the $937 million it will cost to build the stadium set to open in 2014, said Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone.

It could take as long as two years to close a deal, leaving fans plenty of time to speculate on which company will open its deep pockets for the new venue.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

CAA Sports is a division of Creative Artists Agency, which represents more than 650 athletes in baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis and golf, in addition to coaches, on-air broadcasters, and sports personalities.

The 68,500 seat stadium will be built next to the Great America theme park.
